Karlayne Hodges has been an Independent Beauty Consultant since 1998.
Her motto for Mary Kay is: Great People, Great Products and a Great Opportunity.
The great people are what drew her to the company. Karlayne started her career because a friend of hers was trying to reach a big goal and she needed one more person to come into the company in order to reach that goal. It wasn’t until she met the other women in her group that she began to work her business with enthusiasm.. They were fun to be with, and focused on the business. And several of them were already very successful.
Karlayne says “Mary Kay products have a great reputation. No products are tested on animals, and the products do what they say they will. It is the number one selling brand of skin care for the last 10 years. I wasn’t looking for a job in sales, I wasn’t looking for a job at all. But I am glad that I decided to try Mary Kay. The standards are so high and the reputation is so good that the products virtually sell themselves.”
Mary Kay is truly a great opportunity. What was the big goal that her friend was striving for? Her first Mary Kay car! “WOW! A company that rewards good work with big prizes. I was impressed by the possibilities.”
Karlayne has never been out of the top 5 in sales in her local unit. Along with earning prizes like jewelry, and luggage, her sales have allowed her to take her family on vacation to Dallas, Toronto, Sacramento and Disneyland.
However, the award she prizes most is being voted Miss Go Give. Fellow team members select the woman who exhibits the spirit of Mary Kay. The Go-Give award is given to the consultant who is the most helpful, generous, and supportive to the unit and its members.

Karlayne also works as an Epidemiologist for the Detroit Health Department. She is married to Orlando and lives in Detroit.
