BNI Troy IV member, Marianne Balogh, custom sewed a costume for Olympian Ice Dancer, Charlie White. Charlie and his partner, Meryl Davis are seated as the number one U.S. Ice Dancing Team going into the Olympics. They will perform 3 routines, two which will be televised. In the Free Dance routine dancing to "Phantom of the Opera", Charlie is wearing a silk cream shirt with a diagonal ruffle and black velvet pants.
Watch for Davis and White performing on Monday, February 22 at the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver at about 4:45 pm. Their routine performed at the National Competition was strong, dramatic and flawless. Cheer them on as they GO FOR THE GOLD!
Bio
Marianne is a professional seamstress who wants to be your personal seamstress. She has owned
her own home based sewing business since 1988 and has been sewing since elementary school.
Alterations on store bought garments are the most requested items, but Marianne also does
custom sewing and teaches sewing from her home as well as the Rochester Jo-Ann Fabrics store.
If you need a one-of-a-kind garment she can sew it for you. Bridesmaid dresses, mother of the
bride/groom gowns, Prom & Homecoming dresses, theatrical and Halloween costumes, seat cushions
for outdoor furniture and home décor are good referrals for her. Marianne continues to update
her sewing skills by taking classes at The American Sewing Expo and workshops at Oakland University.
Marianne is a member of the American Sewing Guild and was the President of the Detroit Chapter for
the past 4 1/2 years. Look for her article in Twist Magazine, a publication of the Detroit
Free press April 8, 2007.
